On the afternoon of Nov. 9th, Mr. Xu Nanji, Mayor of Ganzhou inspected the National Innovation Center for Rare Earth Functional Materials sponsored by JXUST. Professor Qiu Tingsheng, vice president of JXUST, introduced the rare earth research platform from the aspects of functional positioning, R & D team, incubation of research achievements, and technological innovation. Positively evaluating the research progress by the faculty of JXUST, Mayor Xu put forward his far-sighted suggestions on the construction of the rare earth research center.
With the authorization from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the innovation center for the research and development of new rare earths materials was inaugurated on March 30th, 2021. The innovation center will focus on the R&D and manufacturing of new rare earths materials and high-tech rare earths functional materials, MIIT said in a statement on its website.
China is one of the world's major suppliers of rare earths, a group of 17 elements that are widely used in high-tech products ranging from flat-screen TVs to lasers and hybrid cars. The country has been striving to develop its downstream rare earths industries and boost the high-quality development of the rare earths sector.
