Professor Ge Shirong, President of Jiangxi University of Science and Technology (JXUST) and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, led a special visit to the School of Rare Earths, School of Materials Science and Engineering, and School of Metallurgical Engineering on the afternoon of May 23. The focus was on advancing discipline development and doctoral program construction.
Accompanied by Executive Vice President Xu Zhifeng and heads of relevant departments, President Ge acknowledged the progress made by the three schools. He outlined ambitious visions for their future growth:
School of Rare Earths: Urged to align with national strategic priorities, integrate university resources, collaborate with top-tier national research institutions, and evolve into a globally recognized research hub.
School of Materials Science & Engineering: Challenged to pinpoint cutting-edge research directions, break traditional disciplinary silos, and strategically position itself at the forefront of future materials.
School of Metallurgical Engineering: Encouraged to leverage new interdisciplinary centers, actively converge with emerging materials science, and further strengthen and expand its unique edge in metallurgy.
School leaders presented updates on current initiatives, achievements, and future strategies in discipline and doctoral program development.
This high-level guidance has provided clear direction and galvanized collective efforts within the three schools. They pledged to fully implement the university's vision, driving high-quality development to contribute significantly to JXUST's enduring legacy.
