On September 26, Jiangxi University of Science and Technology (JUST) held its Q3 2025 Sci-Tech Work Scheduling Meeting at the Lianxi Building on Sanjiang Campus. Vice President Xiong Zhihua attended and addressed the meeting, which brought together heads of the Office of Sci-Tech Administration, the Technology Transfer Center, college deans overseeing research, and other relevant personnel.
In his speech, Xiong affirmed the university’s recent progress in scientific research and emphasized a more structured and organized approach to research activities as essential for high-quality development. He outlined three key priorities: advancing the Jiangxi Higher Education Research Institute under the Ministry of Education by selecting industry-driven projects and deepening university-enterprise collaboration; accelerating the National Rare Earth University Science Park to tackle core technical challenges; and strengthening the cultivation and application for major research outcomes.
Xiong urged all colleges to align research efforts and resources with the three Excellence Innovation Centers—Rare Earth Technology, Critical Minerals, and Advanced Materials—and called for intensified efforts to achieve annual research targets through clear responsibility and focused action.
During the meeting, the Office of Sci-Tech Administration summarized this year’s achievements, including breakthroughs in national-level projects and research platforms, and laid out plans for upcoming National Natural Science Fund applications and platform optimization. Emphasis was also placed on early preparation for provincial science and technology awards and closer industry engagement to identify technical needs for manufacturing clusters.
The Technology Transfer Center reported steady growth in technology transfer outcomes but highlighted challenges such as insufficient patent value and weak university-industry linkages. Measures to promote high-value outcomes and expand outreach were proposed to maintain JUST’s leading position in the province.
Representatives from various colleges and institutes also presented their sci-tech work progress from January to September and outlined plans for the next phase.
