In a powerful testament to its sustained commitment, Jiangxi University of Science and Technology (JXUST) has received formal letters of appreciation from the Department of Ethnic Education under the Ministry of Education, the Education Department of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and the Education Bureau of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps. The letters, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of the founding of Xinjiang, lauded the university's "selfless assistance and staunch support" for the region's educational advancement.
The correspondence highlighted JXUST’s deep alignment with national strategies for Xinjiang’s development. It credited the university for injecting robust momentum into local education through multifaceted support, including expert dispatches, teacher training, academic program development, and research collaboration, thereby making "significant contributions to talent cultivation, technological innovation, and social progress."
Forging Bonds Through Knowledge and Technology
JXUST has leveraged its scientific expertise to address real-world challenges in Xinjiang. A pivotal moment came in July 2023, when the university, in coordination with the Jiangxi Front Command of Aid-to-Xinjiang, organized a high-level delegation. The group, featuring several esteemed academicians, conducted the "Xinjiang Kizilsu Kirghiz Autonomous Prefecture (Kizilsu) Technology Tour." They surveyed the region's rich mineral and new energy resources, offering strategic counsel on their development.
This engagement culminated in a strategic framework agreement signed in December 2023, establishing the Kizilsu-JXUST Institute for Mineral Resources and Hydrogen Energy Development. Helmed by leading academicians, the institute serves as a "think tank" for the prefecture’s strategic resource development. Collaboration deepened further with subsequent industrial agreements and the establishment of joint innovation bases and postgraduate training stations with local enterprises in 2025.
These partnerships have borne tangible fruit, yielding distinctive core technologies for the local mining industry—from refined slope modeling and manganese residue extraction to rapid soil formation from tailings. A series of sponsored research projects have successfully translated lab discoveries into practical, value-creating applications on the ground. The initiative has drawn high-level attention and praise from provincial and regional leaders, who commended its role in fostering a shift from external "blood transfusion" to self-sustaining "blood generation" within the local economy.
Nurturing Talent for a Brighter Future
For over four decades, JXUST has been a steadfast cultivator of talent from Xinjiang, having educated nearly 2,000 students from the region since 1984. It currently hosts the largest cohort of Xinjiang students in Jiangxi province. This long-term investment has yielded a remarkable crop of alumni who excel in diverse fields, from military service and central government roles to student leadership and the arts.
In a significant move in August 2025, the university dispatched a team of four core faculty members to provide instructional support at a vocational university in Kizilsu, injecting fresh vigor into the local higher education ecosystem. Furthermore, JXUST has empowered the local workforce through a series of 15 specialized lectures and training sessions delivered by top experts, significantly enhancing the professional skills of over 1,000 local mining industry practitioners.
A Grassroots Symphony of Service and Unity
The spirit of service runs deep among JXUST students. Over the past five years, more than 160 graduates have answered the call of the "Go West" program, planting themselves like seeds in Xinjiang's soil. Among them are standout volunteers like Liu Guotong, recognized nationally for his grassroots service; Tan Yurong, who traded a corporate job to become a youth promoter telling Xinjiang's stories; and Bai Jiabao, honored for his expert contributions to legal education and mediation.
This dedication was further amplified in 2024 and 2025 by the "Jiangxi-Xinjiang Bond, Dream-Forging Journey" practice teams from the School of Architecture and Design. These students traversed the vast landscapes of Kizilsu's Akto County, applying their professional skills in a symphony of community engagement. They promoted language unity, preserved veterans' stories through portraiture, adorned village walls with themes of ethnic harmony, and led educational activities for children. Their efforts—from patriotic education at remote border gates to cultural and industrial surveys—were a vivid portrayal of unity in action, blossoming proudly on the Pamir Plateau.
