On July 24, Jiangxi University of Science and Technology held a meeting to outline its work priorities for the second half of 2026. Liu Zuwen, secretary of the university Party committee, delivered remarks, and Xu Zhifeng, executive vice president, set out the university’s major tasks for the coming months. Senior administrators, high-level faculty, and Party branch secretaries attended.
To ensure a strong start to the 15th Five-Year Plan and accelerate the effort to build a world-class university in rare earths and critical minerals, Liu called on all faculty and staff to deepen theoretical study, align with national development strategies, take responsibility for advancing reform, and uphold discipline and integrity.
Xu said 2026 marks the opening year of the university’s 15th Five-Year Plan. In the first half, the university made steady progress under Party leadership by coordinating work across four priority areas. The second half is critical for meeting annual targets and consolidating the foundation for “Double First-Class” development. All departments should unify thinking, clarify responsibilities, and work on tight timelines. “Work should not stop during the summer, efforts on key tasks should not slacken, and safety should not be overlooked,” he said.
Xu outlined seven priorities for the second half: implementing Party building requirements; advancing the fundamental task of moral education; deepening integrated reform of education, science and technology, and talent systems; improving talent cultivation through the 2026 curriculum plan; promoting the substantive operation of national-level platforms to produce high-impact research; intensifying efforts to attract and retain high-level talent; and strengthening campus safety and comprehensive support services.
For the summer period, Xu urged focused action on key tasks, including completing 2026 undergraduate admissions, tracking employment outcomes for graduates, organizing the overseas young scholars forum, advancing first-class discipline development and major research applications, and deepening exchanges with key enterprises. He also stressed the need to serve students remaining on campus, ensure internship safety, prepare for new student orientation, and maintain 24-hour duty and emergency response systems.
Xu concluded by urging the entire university to keep annual goals firmly in sight and deliver concrete results, laying a solid foundation for the 15th Five-Year Plan and contributing to China’s broader effort to build a strong education system.
