On September 4, the registration day for the Class of 2026, Jiangxi University of Science and Technology (JXUST) welcomed nearly 9,000 new undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students. With hopes in their hearts and bags on their shoulders, they came to keep their appointment with JXUST. With youthful faces and burning expectations, their new chapter of study at JXUST formally began.
During registration, university leaders Liu Zuwen, Ge Shirong, Xu Zhifeng, Huang Zhifan, Dong Bingyan, Xiong Zhihua, Wang Hang, and Ning Jie visited orientation and registration points, thanked staff and volunteers on the front line, asked about registration progress, inspected orientation materials, and checked how orientation work was being carried out. At college registration desks, they talked warmly with new students and parents, asked about their journeys, and encouraged students to cherish their university years and study hard. Their earnest words carried best wishes for the students’ growth.
To ensure a smooth registration process for the Class of 2026, the university Party committee attached great importance to the work, and departments and colleges planned ahead and coordinated closely to make orientation safe, stable, orderly, and efficient. The university set up reception stations at railway and high-speed rail stations and arranged shuttle buses to bring new students and parents directly to campus. Clear signs and one-stop service made enrollment procedures convenient. The Youth League Committee organized special pre-orientation training for student volunteers, strengthening skills in guidance, communication, and emergency response. On registration day, more than 1,000 volunteers were dispatched to Ganzhou West Railway Station and Ganzhou Railway Station, and stationed at dormitories, Nanyang Gate, Dongsheng Gate, the University Emblem Square, and other campus points. They provided route guidance, answered questions, carried luggage, and maintained order, escorting students through the “last mile” of arrival. The Student Work Department of the Party Committee prepared 100 sets of bedding for free distribution to 2026 freshmen with financial difficulties, and gave every freshman three 15-yuan meal vouchers, conveying the campus’s warmth through thoughtful care.
Colleges drew on their disciplinary strengths to prepare creative welcome packages and help new students adapt quickly to university life. The School of Economics and Management provided custom college uniforms and canvas bags printed with the college motto; the School of Science prepared practical stationery kits. Through gifts with disciplinary flavor, colleges wove their expectations into the first warmth of university life.
From railway and high-speed rail stations to campus orientation points, volunteers could be seen everywhere, working with a strong sense of responsibility and full enthusiasm to keep registration efficient and orderly. With clear division of labor and smooth coordination, they guided routes and answered questions at pick-up stations; maintained order at college registration sites and helped with information registration, material submission, item collection, and distribution of college materials; and offered luggage carrying and dormitory guidance at campus welcome points, smoothing the first step onto campus.
Luo Zihao, a student from Applied Chemistry Class 232 in the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, said of his volunteer service: “This time I mainly guided new students and answered parents’ questions. When I first entered, seniors patiently helped me get familiar with campus, so I took up this responsibility. I hope the new students adapt quickly to university life, and that this spirit of mutual help continues to be passed on.”
The Class of 2026 came from all over, leaving their hometowns to gather at JXUST, each with hopes for a new university journey.
Mao Lanjiang Turhong, a freshman in Materials Class 261 at the Rare Earth College, said: “I come from Kashgar, Xinjiang. I took a four-day-and-four-night train alone, traveling more than 4,900 kilometers, to study at JXUST. I have always loved chemistry and know that materials is closely related to it. Learning about JXUST’s excellent academic environment and complete training system strengthened my determination to apply here.” He added: “In university, I will quickly keep up with the pace of study, make up for my weaknesses, and build solid professional knowledge. After graduation, I will return to my hometown in Xinjiang and use what I have learned to help build my hometown and contribute youthful strength to its development.”
Li Shiyun, a student in English Class 263 in the School of Foreign Languages, traveled from Jiangsu to Ganzhou. She said: “I was drawn by the university’s strong teaching strength, and I deeply agree with the motto ‘Aim High, Responsibility First.’ Here I can both learn professional knowledge and shape my character.” Though a little anxious in a new place, with her family’s support she is full of expectations: “I hope to study diligently at JXUST, keep improving, live up to my youth, and achieve my own growth and transformation.”
Youth opens its prelude; dreams set sail at JXUST. The arrival of the Class of 2026 has injected surging youthful energy into campus.
