On September 23, the Jiangxi Provincial CPPCC Members’ Public Service Action and the China Children and Teenagers’ Fund (CCTF) “Spring Bud Project” scholarship disbursement ceremony was held at Jiangxi University of Science and Technology’s Sanjiang campus.
Attendees included Xie Ru, vice chairwoman of the Jiangxi Provincial CPPCC and chairwoman of the Jiangxi Federation of Industry and Commerce; Du Rui, chairperson of the CCTF; Tu Yaya, a CCTF representative and provincial CPPCC member; Zhao Bo, director of the CPPCC’s Committee on Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese Affairs; Qian Yun, secretary and chairwoman of the Jiangxi Women’s Federation; Wu Xiaohui, vice chairwoman; Liu Zuwen, Party secretary of JXUST; and Ning Jie, vice president. Officials from the CCTF, the Jiangxi Children’s Fund and university departments, along with scholarship recipients, also attended. Chen Xiuhua, vice chairwoman of the municipal CPPCC and chairwoman of the municipal committee of the China Democratic League, presided.
Xie Ru said the provincial CPPCC has worked to build platforms for members to serve the public, drawing on their resources and expertise to reach grassroots communities. The joint scholarship effort with the Spring Bud Project, she said, was a useful exploration combining the institutional strengths of political consultation with an education charity brand, broadening the CPPCC’s ties with the public and rallying social support for education. She called on all sectors to continue the Chinese tradition of generosity and help children in need.
Du Rui described the Spring Bud Project’s impact. Over more than three decades, it has promoted girls’ education and development and protected their equal right to education; in 2023 it won the UNESCO Prize for Girls’ and Women’s Education. In Jiangxi, women’s federations have reached more than 100,000 Spring Bud girls. Nationwide, by 2025, the project had helped 4.55 million girl students pursue their studies. With support from the provincial CPPCC and society, she said, Spring Bud will bloom even more brightly in Jiangxi.
Tang Qiongyao, a full-time counselor at the university’s School of Low-Altitude Technology, spoke as a teacher representative. She said the university, rooted in the red soil of southern Jiangxi, has long upheld “moral education and financial aid for education,” developed a development-oriented aid model, and launched the “Dream Pursuit · Set Sail” program, moving from mere poverty relief to comprehensive support. This year, the Spring Bud Project came to the university for the first time, easing burdens for girls in difficulty and giving them courage. She urged recipients to aim high, study hard and pass on kindness.
At the event, the CCTF and Tu Yaya donated 2 million yuan to the Jiangxi Women and Children’s Development Foundation for Spring Bud scholarships, earmarked for 400 poor but high-achieving female high school and university students in Jiangxi. Leaders then presented scholarships to student representatives from Yudu County, JXUST, Gannan Normal University, Jinggangshan University and Jiujiang University.
The university’s “Bajiao Voice” choir closed the event with two red songs, “The Grand Meeting” and “Qingping Yue · Huichang,” carrying forward revolutionary traditions.
