The final round of the 15th “Challenge Cup” China Construction Bank China College Students’ Entrepreneurship Plan Competition, co-hosted by the Communist Youth League Central Committee, the Ministry of Education and other central bodies, and the Liaoning provincial government, concluded at Dalian University of Technology on November 2. JXUST students delivered a strong performance, winning one national first prize and two third prizes in the main competition, plus one national third prize in the “Northeast Revitalization” special competition—a double breakthrough in both the number of projects reaching the national finals and the quality of awards.
The School of Mining Engineering’s project, “Molten Salt Swap for Rare Earths: A Pioneer in Green Extraction from Rare-Earth Secondary Resources,” won a national first prize in the main competition. Two projects won national third prizes in the main competition: “Magic Brush: AI-Empowered Personalized Homestay Design Boosts Cultural Tourism,” from the School of Planning and Design, and “Lithium Cycle: A Pioneer in Rapid Targeted Extraction of Lithium from Spent Lithium Batteries,” from the School of Metallurgical Engineering. The School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering’s project, “High ‘Diagnosis’ Without Worry: A Pioneer in Fault Prediction for Mining and Metallurgical Equipment with Dual-Brain Collaborative Diagnosis,” won a national third prize in the “Northeast Revitalization” special competition.
Themed “Youth Shouldering Responsibility for Chinese Modernization,” the competition featured a main competition, a Northeast Revitalization industrial upgrading special competition and an open “challenge” special competition, with three stages: university preliminaries, provincial semifinals and national finals. It attracted more than 3 million students from over 2,700 universities. A total of 751 main-competition projects and 587 projects in the Northeast Revitalization special competition reached the final round.
Success in competition is only the starting point; serving the country through science and technology is a ceaseless endeavor. JXUST will continue to deepen innovation and entrepreneurship education, bridge the gap between research outcomes and commercialization, and guide its students to tackle hard problems with determination. The university is striving to build a world-class university in rare earth and critical minerals and to contribute youthful strength to Chinese modernization.
