Recently, the Chinese Academy of Engineering released its newly-elected members in its official website. 75 Chinese scholars and 29 overseas experts were included into the national academy of the People's Republic of China for engineering. Two alumni of JXUST, including Mr. Wang Yunmin and Mr. Yang Chunhe, were elected as CAE academicians.
Graduated from JXUST in 1982, Wang is now serving as president of Sinosteel Maanshan Institute of Mining Research. His research interests include open-pit mining technology and theory of mining technology in metal mines. Wang is the winner of 2 Second Prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, and 2 First Prize of Science and Technology Progress Award from the Ministry of Metallurgical Engineering. The Chinese Academy of Engineering is a national organization composed of elected members with the highest honor in the community of engineering and technological sciences of the nation, initiating and conducting strategic study and providing consultancy for decision-making for the nation’s key issues of engineering and technology, the Academy devotes itself to promote the progress of engineering and technological sciences.
Born in 1962, Dr. YANG Chunhe is now a researcher in Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He has long been engaged in research on technology and theory of solution mining subsidence of rock salt and oil gas underground storage project. YANG is one of the domestic pioneers in rock salt mechanics and underground storage engineering field. YANG Chunhe won 4 Second Prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, and 4 First Prize of Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award. He has published more than 260 papers and 3 books, more than 200 papers are cited by SCI/EI. 11 of the patents he applied were authorized.
So far, three alumni of JXUST have been elected as academicians of CAS or CAE. The other one is professor Lai Yuanming from Cold and Arid Regions Environmental and Engineering Research Institute，Chinese Academy of Sciences. Graduating from JXUST in 1983, Lai was elected as an academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2011.
