On Dec. 9th 2019, the international conference of TCSOL (teach Chinese to speakers of other languages) was held in Changsha, capital city of Central China’s Hunan province. With the theme of “Innovation and Development of International Chinese Education in the New Era”, the grand conference attracted 1,000 delegates from 160-plus countries. At the invitation of Confucius Institute Headquarters, the delegates of JXUST, including Professor Gong Yaoteng, vice president for outreach and international affairs, Dr. Rana Eijaz Ahmad, director (Pakistan side) of Confucius Institute in University of the Punjab, Professor Liu Chengsheng, director (Chinese side) of Confucius Institute in University of the Punjab, Mr. Cai Jinbao, deputy director of International Affairs Office of JXUST, attended the conference.
In 2015, JXUST and University of the Punjab co-founded a Confucius Institute in Lahore, capital city of Punjab province. As of October 2019, the CI has taught more than 3,600 students, with nearly 3,500 people sitting the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK). The undergraduate program of electrical engineering co-sponsored by JXUST and University of the Punjab, as one of the core projects of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, contributes greatly to China’s signature international cooperation project, One Belt and One Road Initiative.
