A research paper, Thermally boosted upconversion and downshifting luminescence in Sc2(MoO4)3:Yb/Er with two-dimensional negative thermal expansion, which is co-authored by professor Liao Jinsheng and professor Wen Herui from School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, was published with Nature Communications.
With the intrinsic properties of thermal contraction and cold expansion of Sc2(MoO4)3:Yb/Er two-dimensional negative thermal expansion material, the research achieved a significant enhancement of green upconversion luminescence and near-infrared transfer luminescence in a wide temperature range (298K-773K). With the diverse research methods, for instance, in situ variable temperature synchrotron X-ray diffraction (SXRD), in situ variable temperature Raman spectroscopy, and time-resolved spectroscopy, the anomalous fluorescence thermal enhancement mechanism of rare earth ions in two-dimensional negative thermal expansion materials was revealed.
