The 2024 World Chinese Language Conference was held from Nov.15th to 17th at the China National Convention Center in Beijing. Yang Bin, Party Secretary of our university, was invited to attend the opening ceremony and, on behalf of the university, signed a “Tripartite Cooperation Agreement for Jointly Cultivating International Chinese Education Majors” with the University of the Punjab in Pakistan and the Center for Language Education and Cooperation.
The conference was hosted by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China and co-organized by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation, the Chinese International Education Foundation, and the International Society for Chinese Language Teaching. With over 2,000 delegates from more than 160 countries and regions in attendance, Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng presided over the conference. Vice President Han Zheng read out a congratulatory letter from President Xi Jinping and delivered a speech, emphasizing the important role of Chinese in global communication and expressing China’s commitment to supporting international Chinese education.
Jiangxi University of Science and Technology has become the only university in Jiangxi Province to sign such an agreement. According to the teaching plan, the first batch of students is scheduled to enroll in 2025 and will depart for China in 2027 to commence the next two years of their studies. Scholarship will be provided for them by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation during their study period in China. The program aims to enable students in Pakistan to enhance their language skills in a fully Chinese-speaking environment and experience Chinese culture.
