Recently, the results of the 19th Fok Ying Tung Education Foundation (FYTF) Higher Education Youth Science Award and Teaching Excellence Award were announced. Professor Wu Caibin from Jiangxi University of Science and Technology (JXUST) has been honored with the Second Prize in the Teaching Excellence Award, marking the first time a faculty member from JXUST has received this accolade. Professor Wu is also the sole recipient from Jiangxi Province this year, representing a historic breakthrough for the university in this prestigious award.
Academic and Professional Profile of Professor Wu Caibin, doctoral supervisor, currently serves as the Director of the Office of Science and Technology at JXUST.
Professor Wu has dedicated himself to fostering students’ comprehensive development through pedagogical innovation. His courses, particularly Powder Engineering, integrate cutting-edge industry knowledge with hands-on practice, earning widespread acclaim from students. He pioneered the “project-driven teaching model”, leading multiple national and provincial teaching reform initiatives. He has authored high-impact teaching reform papers, published multiple textbooks and monographs, and his pedagogical innovations have significantly elevated teaching quality at JXUST while offering valuable insights for nationwide higher education reforms.
Professor Wu’s research focuses on low-carbon grinding technology, where his groundbreaking “steel ball-free grinding process” has established China’s global leadership in ceramic ball grinding technology. His innovations have been industrially applied in over 30 mineral processing plants under major corporations such as China Minmetals Corporation, China Baowu Steel Group, Jiangxi Copper Corporation, and Jiangxi Tungsten Group, generating annual economic benefits exceeding 500 million yuan and driving transformative advancements in China’s mining sector.
