On April 15, Li Bo, Chairman of the Chinese Society of Rare Earths (CSRE), led a delegation to Jiangxi University of Science and Technology (JXUST) to discuss strengthening collaboration between the two parties. Yang Bin, Secretary of the JXUST Party Committee, and Xu Zhifeng, Deputy Party Secretary, along with CSRE Vice Chairman and Secretary-General Yang Zhanfeng, attended the symposium. The meeting was chaired by Xu Zhifeng.
Yang Bin extended a warm welcome to Li Bo and his delegation, highlighting the university’s advancements in scientific research capabilities, distinctive achievements in rare earth studies, and talent cultivation in the field. He emphasized CSRE’s pivotal role as a bridge between the Party, government, and rare earth professionals, as well as its contributions to advancing national rare earth science and technology. Yang expressed hope that CSRE would further support the university in recommending young talents, fostering scientific achievements, facilitating major project applications, and involving the university in society affairs. He reaffirmed JXUST’s commitment to quality, specialization, and openness, pledging to strengthen first-class disciplines, research platforms, academic teams, and talent development in rare earths to better serve national strategic needs and regional socioeconomic growth.
Li Bo provided an overview of CSRE’s mission, key scientific service programs, and current priorities. He noted that the society is actively advancing project evaluations, talent recommendations, and the development of a national rare earth strategy think tank, aligned with strategic initiatives such as major projects on new materials and key programs for rare earth new materials. Li praised JXUST’s rapid progress in serving national strategies and local economic development, urging both sides to leverage their strengths and explore broader collaboration opportunities tailored to industry demands for mutual benefit.
The meeting was attended by heads of JXUST’s Office of Science and Technology, School of Rare Earths, School of Resources and Environmental Engineering, School of Metallurgical Engineering, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, as well as researchers specializing in rare earths.
Prior to the symposium, Li Bo and his delegation toured the National Innovation Center for Rare Earth Functional Materials and JXUST’s Sanjiang Campus, receiving briefings on the university’s integration of technological and industrial innovation in rare earths and the development of the Jiangxi Provincial Rare Earth Society.
