Jiangxi Province and China University of Mining and Technology, Beijing (CUMTB) entered into a strategic cooperation agreement today. Governor Ye Jianchun met with CUMTB Party Secretary Han Shangfeng and President Liu Bo, with both parties attending the signing ceremony.
Governor Ye acknowledged CUMTB's leading position in energy research and existing cooperation with Jiangxi. Highlighting Jiangxi's ongoing efforts to advance mineral resource development through the new-round mineral exploration initiative, he emphasized the province's commitment to building a modern industrial system with local characteristics while ensuring national industrial chain security. Ye called for enhanced collaboration between CUMTB and Jiangxi's enterprises, research institutions, and universities in talent cultivation, innovation platforms, technological breakthroughs, and commercialization of research outcomes.
Han Shangfeng noted Jiangxi's strengths as a mineral-rich province with substantial nonferrous metal industry potential. He reaffirmed CUMTB's commitment to promoting integrated development of innovation, industrial, capital, and talent chains in Jiangxi's nonferrous sector through its "service-for-support and contribution-for-development" philosophy.
During the ceremony, representatives from Jiangxi Provincial Department of Science and Technology, CUMTB, Jiangxi University of Science and Technology, and Ganzhou Municipal Government signed an agreement to jointly establish the CUMTB Jiangxi Research Institute. Academician Ge Shirong, President of Jiangxi University of Science and Technology and member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, was appointed as the institute's inaugural director.
