In response to the evolving landscape of higher education and the need to integrate education, technology, and talent development, Jiangxi University of Science and Technology has launched three Excellence Innovation Centers dedicated to rare earth and critical minerals. This flagship initiative aligns with two major strategic goals: fostering a trillion-yuan critical minerals industry in Jiangxi and consolidating China’s strategic leadership in the rare earth sector.
The newly established centers—Rare Earth Technology, Advanced Materials, and Critical Minerals—are designed to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration, promote structured research, and build a leading hub of education, innovation, and talent in this vital field.
The Rare Earth Technology Excellence Innovation Center will tackle key scientific challenges in green extraction, high-value applications, and intelligent management of rare earth resources.
The Advanced Materials Excellence Innovation Center focuses on cutting-edge material science, including super-copper, ultra-hard tungsten, high-toughness steel, low-carbon metallurgy, and digital process optimization.
The Critical Minerals Excellence Innovation Center aims to advance smart exploration and utilization of critical minerals through research in geology, mining, mineral processing, and intelligent systems.
As primary academic and administrative units, these centers will pool resources from within and beyond the university, driving scientific research and platform development. Each center plans to attract and cultivate at least ten top-tier national experts, positioning itself as a gathering place for high-level talent and an innovation base for critical mineral development. Together, they will provide robust support for the university’s pursuit of excellence and high-quality growth.
