JXUST joined forces with the Ganjiang Innovation Academy (GIA) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), marking a significant upgrade in their collaboration through a strategic cooperation agreement signed today.
The signing ceremony, held at Lianxi Hall on Sanjiang Campus, witnessed the presence of senior leaders from both institutions, including GIA Party Secretary Qi Tao and Vice President Liao Wuping, alongside our University President, Academician Ge Shirong of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
President Ge extended a warm welcome to the GIA delegation, highlighting our university's distinctive strengths in rare earth, metallurgy, materials, and mechanical engineering. He reflected on the fruitful outcomes achieved since the initial 2020 framework agreement, particularly in joint talent cultivation, scientific innovation, and academic exchanges within the rare earth sector.
"CAS represents the core of national strategic scientific strength and the vanguard of China's scientific endeavors," President Ge stated. "Today's agreement elevates our partnership to an unprecedented level, poised to pool top-tier innovation resources, establish high-level R&D platforms, nurture strategic scientific talent, and achieve breakthroughs in core technologies pivotal to the rare earth and critical minerals industry."
The consensus on deepening collaboration was strongly echoed by both parties. The partnership is hailed as a strategic move to build a world-class education and research hub in rare earths, enhancing the development and utilization of this vital national resource.
Secretary Qi Tao affirmed that this new chapter builds upon the solid foundation of past successes. "GIA is committed to spearheading rare earth scientific innovation in China," he said. "Together, we will transform regional resource advantages into scientific, industrial, and strategic prowess, contributing to Ganzhou's ascent as a global epicenter for rare earth research, industry, technology, and talent."
Following in-depth discussions to streamline working mechanisms, the agreement was formally signed by Vice President Liao Wuping and Vice President Xiong Zhihua, ushering in a new era of synergistic collaboration aimed at driving major advancements and supporting our university's 'Double First-Class' initiative.
