The Jiangxi Society of Rare Earths successfully convened its 2025 Annual Academic Conference and the Second Council Meeting of its sixth term on November 16 in Ganzhou. Co-organized by Jiangxi University of Science and Technology (JXUST), the National Innovation Center for Rare Earth Functional Materials, and the Ganjiang Innovation Academy of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the event brought together over seventy leading experts, industry technologists, and researchers from across the province.
Professor Xu Zhifeng, Deputy Secretary of the JXUST Party Committee, addressed the opening ceremony. He highlighted the university's role as a cornerstone of the Society, emphasizing its continuous efforts to enhance the Society's service capabilities, refine its structure, and foster platforms for exchange and industry-academia-research collaboration. "As a national vanguard in rare earth resources and industry, Jiangxi holds a pivotal role in the nation's strategic landscape," stated Xu. "For decades, JXUST has cultivated a comprehensive academic system spanning the entire rare earth value chain, yielding significant applied research outcomes through deep collaboration with industry and research institutes. This conference serves as a vital platform to forge synergy, spark innovation, and collectively steer the industry towards high-end, intelligent, and green development."
Key organizational milestones were achieved during the meeting, including the establishment of the Society's Academic Integrity Construction Working Group and the approval of its governing regulation. These steps institutionalize the commitment to upholding rigorous academic standards and fostering an ethical research environment. Additionally, adjustments to the Council's standing members and the realignment of specific professional committees were ratified, optimizing the Society's operational structure for enhanced effectiveness.
The academic session featured insightful presentations from eight experts representing JXUST, the Ganjiang Innovation Academy, Nanchang University, and other institutions. They delved into cutting-edge research and emerging trends across core areas such as mining, separation and metallurgy, material preparation, and analytical testing, offering fresh perspectives to drive technological advancement.
Marked by a threefold success in organizational strengthening, impactful academic exchange, and elevated regional influence, the event not only reinforced the Society's institutional framework but also solidified its role as a crucial bridge for deep integration across academia, industry, research, and application within Jiangxi's rare earth sector.
