Rooted in a rich history and profound legacy, the School of Metallurgical Engineering has seized the opportunity presented by the university’s “Red-Gold-Green” Party-building initiative to shape a distinct identity. With “Red” fostering loyalty, “Gold” refining expertise, and “Green” driving innovation, the School has cultivated its own “Red Furnace” Party-building brand. This synergy between the university’s vision and the School’s innovative approach strengthens its role as a “metallurgical vanguard,” serving national strategies and local industries while supporting the university’s ambition to become a world-class institution in rare earth and critical minerals.

Red”: Forging Loyalty, Shaping a Vanguard with Political Integrity

The School’s Party Committee remains committed to its mission of nurturing talents for the Party and the nation. Through platforms such as the “Red Furnace Forum,” “Integration Classroom,” and “Soul-Molding Academy,” it has built a multi-tiered learning system that ensures the Party’s principles take root in hearts and minds. Inspired by the nationally recognized Huang Danian-style teaching team, the “Red Furnace Mentorship” initiative passes on the dedication and selflessness of older-generation metallurgists to young faculty.

Beyond the classroom, the School collaborates with enterprises like Xinyu Iron & Steel to establish practice bases, organizes themed lectures, and leads students on immersive journeys retracing the Long March. The “Red Furnace: Turning Stone into Gold” outreach program enables students to engage directly with the nonferrous metals industry, translating innovation into real-world impact. For 18 consecutive years, the School has also run volunteer teaching programs in Ganzhou’s Shadi Town, earning coverage in prominent media like China Youth Daily.

Gold”: Tempering Expertise, Demonstrating a Vanguard’s Competence

The School strengthens its ties with industry, honing a vanguard capable of delivering tangible outcomes. It has optimized its faculty structure, with 93% of full-time teachers holding doctoral degrees. Young doctors under 35 are now key drivers of growth, supported by a training mechanism that requires at least six months of engineering practice within their first three years.

Through Party-building partnerships with companies like Chongyi Zhangyuan Tungsten, the School integrates industry needs with talent development and technological innovation. This approach has led to the establishment of two Ministry of Industry and Information Technology collaborative education bases.

By incorporating award-winning research, such as the National Science and Technology Progress Award, into its curriculum, the School offers cutting-edge courses like Tungsten Metallurgy and Rare Earth Extraction Metallurgy. It also hosts high-level international conferences and invites academicians to lecture, creating a virtuous cycle where research enriches teaching and teaching fuels innovation.

Green”: Pioneering Innovation, Defining a Vanguard’s Vision

In alignment with China’s “Dual Carbon” goals and Jiangxi’s industrial transformation, the School champions green, low-carbon technological advancement. It has collaborated with industry leaders such as China Baowu, Jiangxi Copper, and Jiangxi Tungsten to tackle key technical challenges, generating over RMB 10 billion in direct economic benefits while driving sustainable development.

The School plays an active role in the universitys three卓越innovation centers for rare earth and critical minerals and contributes to the World Copper Capital Innovation Valley. Faculty members are stationed at enterprises to conduct joint research, breaking disciplinary barriers and integrating fields like artificial intelligence with metallurgy to modernize traditional industries.

Over the past decade, the School has supplied more than 2,000 high-quality graduates to the nonferrous metals sector. Many have become technical and managerial backbones of Jiangxi’s enterprises, establishing a distinctive brand of talent development deeply rooted in the “red soil” and dedicated to serving local industry.

From the “Red” that instills faith, to the “Gold” that refines competence, and the “Green” that sparks innovation, the School of Metallurgical Engineering will continue to draw on the “Red-Gold-Green” Party-building framework and the “Red Furnace” brand. Integrating tradition, industry, and sustainability, the “Metallurgy Vanguard” will strive to achieve even greater contributions to the university’s high-quality development.
