On the morning of April 21, Jiangxi University of Science and Technology (JXUST) hosted a special job fair at its Sanjiang Campus that combined a national nonferrous metals industry employment initiative with the spring recruitment drive for Jiangxi Province’s 2026 graduates. Officials from the Ministry of Education, the Nonferrous Metals Industry Talent Center, and provincial education authorities attended alongside JXUST Party Secretary Liu Zuwen and Vice President Wang Hang.

Altogether, 164 enterprises and public institutions offered more than 4,200 positions spanning nonferrous metals, metallurgy, new materials, new energy, machinery manufacturing, finance, electronics, and semiconductors, attracting over 3,000 student job seekers.

As the fair opened, Party Secretary Liu toured the venue to gauge demand from both employers and graduates. He encouraged students to adopt a rational, proactive approach to job hunting, plan their careers sensibly, and treat the campus recruitment platform as a golden opportunity to sharpen their competitiveness.

Students, résumés in hand, streamed from booth to booth as recruiters outlined positions and answered questions. Behind the scenes, faculty members offered all-round employment support. Zhang Lili, a teacher from the School of Economics and Management, explained that colleagues tailor guidance to individual needs — clarifying questions about location, salary and industry perceptions, and, for those unsure of their path, providing one-on-one help with identifying strengths, polishing résumés and conducting mock interviews.

A recruiter from China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation highlighted what matters most in screening candidates: academic performance comes first, while professional credentials, project experience and foreign-language skills are strong assets. A positive, sunny mindset also counts. For master’s students, a close match between research focus and the role is key, and relevant internships carry considerable weight. He advised students to build a solid academic foundation and actively engage in projects and competitions to meet the demand for well-rounded talent.

Wu Chengxiu, a postgraduate environmental science student from the School of Mining Engineering, shared practical tips: structure the résumé into clear sections, research employers beforehand, and use AI tools to prepare for interviews. She added that she will focus on improving workplace adaptability and clearer career expectations, and expressed appreciation that the university brings quality employers directly to campus.

JXUST has long made graduate employment a priority, expanding enterprise outreach, inviting targeted employers to campus, and building efficient matching mechanisms through sector-specific fairs, structured career guidance, and tailored assistance for disadvantaged groups. This fair was both a timely move to widen channels during the spring hiring season and a concrete platform for high-quality employment. The university says it will keep refining employment services, integrating resources, and strengthening supply-demand matching to help graduates secure fuller, better-quality jobs.
