On August 22, Liu Zuwen, secretary of the Party committee of Jiangxi University of Science and Technology (JXUST), led a delegation to the Institute of Metal Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Northeastern University. Vice President Wang Hang and officials from the university’s Party and administrative offices accompanied the visit.
On the morning of August 22, the delegation visited the Institute of Metal Research, where Liu Gang, director of the institute, met with the group. Officials from the institute’s graduate education and technology development departments attended the discussion.
Liu Zuwen briefed the institute on JXUST’s integrated reform of education, science and technology, and talent development. He reviewed the progress made in talent exchange and joint research, and expressed hope for deepening cooperation in areas such as joint talent training, major scientific projects, innovation platforms, and high-level faculty recruitment. Liu Gang welcomed the delegation and said the institute attaches great importance to cooperation with universities and looks forward to broader and deeper collaboration with JXUST. Before the meeting, the delegation toured the institute’s exhibition of scientific achievements.
On the afternoon of August 22, the delegation visited Northeastern University. Guo Hai, secretary of the university’s Party committee, met with the group at the International Exchange Center. Guo welcomed the delegation and introduced Northeastern University’s discipline layout, research strengths, and talent cultivation. He said the two universities should strengthen exchanges and support each other, particularly in rare earths and strategic mineral resources, to contribute to the country through talent training, scientific innovation, and industrial innovation.
Liu Zuwen introduced JXUST’s history, disciplinary strengths, and current development. He said the university has deep expertise in rare earths and critical minerals and hopes to deepen cooperation with Northeastern University in discipline development, talent cultivation, and scientific research. Before the meeting, the delegation visited the university history museum to learn about Northeastern University’s century-long history and achievements.
During the trip, the delegation also visited alumni enterprises, including China Nonferrous Metals (Shenyang) Pump Industry Co., Ltd., and met with representatives of the Liaoning alumni association. Liu conveyed greetings from the university and encouraged alumni in Liaoning to contribute to the full revitalization of Northeast China.
