On the afternoon of Sept. 10, Peng Bo, vice chairman and Party Leadership Group member of the Jiangxi Provincial Federation of Social Sciences, led a delegation to JXUST to inspect and advise on the university’s application to establish a Jiangxi Provincial Philosophy and Social Sciences Laboratory—the Strategic Mineral Resources Process Optimization and Intelligent Decision-Making Laboratory. Liu Zuwen, Party Secretary of JXUST, attended the symposium. Ning Jie, Standing Committee member of the University Party Committee and vice president, presided over the meeting.
Liu welcomed the delegation and briefed it on JXUST’s history, distinctive strengths, research advantages and achievements in philosophy and social sciences. He said the university aligns its discipline, program and innovation-platform chains with nonferrous metals and strategic minerals, and actively serves national resource security and high-quality regional industrial development. Establishing the laboratory, he added, is an important step in advancing the integrated development of education, science and technology, and talent.
Peng explained the purpose and focus of the visit and the laboratory’s future direction. Philosophy and social sciences laboratories, she said, are important platforms for innovating research paradigms, integrating disciplines and incubating talent. Their core purpose is to create a “chemical reaction” between the humanities and social sciences and the natural sciences, generate new academic growth points and original theoretical results, and serve major national and local strategic needs.
Zhu Wenxing, deputy head of the Faculty of Social Sciences and dean of the School of Economics and Management, reported on the laboratory’s overall development, covering its founding basis, existing work, development plans and expected outcomes. Yang Junhui, vice dean of the School of Information Engineering, detailed the development and operation of JXUST’s China Rare Earth Industry Big Data Platform, including its history, content and data achievements. Faculty members demonstrated simulated application scenarios in geology, mining and mineral processing. Experts and university representatives then held extensive discussions on the laboratory application and platform development.
After the symposium, Peng and the delegation inspected the laboratory at Sanjiang Campus West Garden. Wu Feng, director of the Office of the Jiangxi Provincial Leading Group for Social Science Planning, Zhang Xiaoyou, an official from the Publicity Department of the CPC Jiangxi Provincial Committee, and other experts accompanied the visit. Heads and faculty representatives from JXUST’s Institute of Science and Technology, Faculty of Social Sciences, School of Economics and Management, School of Mining Engineering and School of Information Engineering also attended.
