It was recently announced by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) Documentation and Information Center that Tungsten, the English-language scientific journal hosted by JXUST, has been successfully ranked in Category 2 of multiple disciplines in the newly released 2025 CAS Journal Partition List. The journal attained Category 2 status in the broad discipline of Materials Science, as well as in the specific sub-disciplines of Materials Science (Comprehensive) and Applied Physics.
This achievement marks a significant milestone in the journal's academic reputation and influence, signifying its enhanced capacity to facilitate global scientific communication and knowledge dissemination. The recognition is expected to substantially contribute to the university's first-class discipline development initiatives while amplifying the international visibility of cutting-edge research findings.
The CAS Journal Partition List, an authoritative academic evaluation system maintained since 2004 by the CAS Documentation and Information Center, has expanded its 2025 edition to include Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) journals and Open Access Journals (OAJ), in addition to its traditional coverage of Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE), Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI), and Arts & Humanities Citation Index (A&HCI) publications. Journals are classified into four tiers based on citation metrics: Category 1 (top 5%), Category 2 (5-20%), Category 3 (20-50%), and Category 4 (remaining 50%).
This tiered evaluation system serves as a crucial benchmark for assessing journal quality and academic impact within China's scientific community, with Category 2 recognition indicating superior international standing within respective fields.
